What is B4UFLY?

B4UFLY is a collaboration between the FAA and private industry, like AutoPylot, to safely integrate recreational drones into the national airspace system. AutoPylot provides recreational flyers with safety information and airspace awareness prior to flight through our web app, or mobile iOS and Android apps.

How to access B4UFLY content through AutoPylot

Get started

  • Accessing B4UFLY is free and does not require you to create an account
  • Select Get Started to enter the application after seeing a quick tutorial
  • Choose to enable notifications and location access to improve pre-flight planning

Step 3

Find a location

  • Zoom and pan the map to see airspace and UAS Facility Map grids
  • Tap the screen to drop a pin, or
  • Use the search field to input your desired flight location

Step 4

Flight status indicator

  • Choose your flight radius, date, time and duration
  • Instantly know if your planned flight area is Clear to Fly, requires FAA Approval, or is a Do Not Fly zone.
  • If the area requires FAA Approval, the flight checklist will indicate if you may use the app to get automatic approval by requesting LAANC, or if need to visit DroneZone

Flight checklist

  • Scroll the flight checklist for the locations airspace awareness and safety information
  • B4UFLY provides safety information for controlled airspace, day/nighttime operations, stadium warnings, temporary flight restrictions (TFRs), restricted airspace and scheduled airspace
  • Check the operational awareness advisory to see if any hazards are within 2 miles of your planned flight areas, including airports, heliports, military areas, and national parks

  • Recreational flyers must take The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) before they fly.
